STAR OF THE MONTH : RUVIMBO NYIKADZINO

Our star of the month is a lady who sees possibilities and sees a way where it seems impossible. Ruvimbo Nyikadzino is a journalist, tv presenter , motivational speaker chairperson  at ZYTA and she is the founder at She Roars. She has managed to host powerful and successful She Roars events whose aim is to empower women .  She believes women deserve equal opportunities to accomplish their dreams , she is indeed a black girl who rocks . check out the interview below.

TELL US BRIEFLY ABOUT YOURSELF
I'm Ruvimbo Nyikadzino am  25 years old .I'm a Christian and l go to Christ Embassy Church.I am one individual who believes in possibilities and sees a way where it seems impossible .I'm the second born out of 4 children .I enjoy quite a lot .I did my degree in English and Kiswahili at the University of Zimbabwe and
graduated in 2016 .

WHAT MADE YOU PURSUE JOURNALISM?

Well when l joined media l joined as a TV  presenter at Sly media Productions. However as l journeyed there an opportunity to be trained as camera personnel came up and l was trained and l learnt and mastered it with speed because l have great passion for it .I always say camera is bae which is how l view it.For me it is beyond working but its actually my passion that I'm pursing .

TELL US ABOUT YOUR INITIATIVE SHEROARS ZIMBABWE
SheRoars Zimbabwe is a brand that brings young women together from all backgrounds .We strongly believe that there is power in working together. We have created a platform that women can come and share their stories,empower each other, motivate each other to fulfill their dream .No woman should be left behind and all women deserve equal opportunities. One of the issues we are advocating for is equal opportunities for everyone, equal empowerment for everyone though l have a soft spot for graduates ,my argument has always been we have been raised thinking if we just get"educated" it is a gate pass to success ,but here we are education alone is not enough therefore young women should be innovative and find new ways to change their stories .

IN YOUR EXPERIENCE IN JOURNALISM  AND WORKING WITH OTHER JOURNALISTS WHAT CHALLENGES HAVE YOU FACED AND DID THESE CHALLENGES MAKE YOU OR BREAK YOU?
I wouldn't say l have a challenge  working with other journalist, they are quite supportive and its a great field l would say .

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON WOMEN EMPOWERMENT , HOW IMPORTANT IS IT IN THE SOCIETY AND HOW BEST CAN PULL HER DOWN SYNDROME BE ERADICATED?
l strongly affirm empowering women should be a mandate it should be  done more practically. I mean if a woman is empowered it means we have empowered the whole family ,and the community that she is in .l'm of a different view of a pull her down syndrome as SheRoars Zimbabwe we preach the gospel of celebrating each other, if another woman could do it means its an advantage for all of us because we can practically say it can be done .

2020 IS UPON US WHAT CAN WE EXPECT FROM SHEROARS ZIMBABWE
 I'm a firm believer that the year perse does not bring anything to you. You are the one that works to make it happen in that year .2020 is my year of perfection .Therefore I'm thriving to surpass my old self ,to meet new targets, to break new grounds. And all the time I take advantage for thegrace of God which is the solid rock l stand on.

YOUR RECENT SHEROARS EVENT , THE GUEST LIST HAD INFLUENTIAL WOMEN DOING WELL IN THEIR CAREERS. HOW DID THE EVENT BECOME A SUCCESS AND WHAT OBSTACLES DID YOU FACE BEHIND THE SCENES?
Well inviting influential women seems to  be a great deal but what l have told myself is when you ask the worst that you can expect is a no ,so why not try and see.Their response has been amazing in supporting the brand and l'm grateful to everyone of them .Working to make things happen in the background when you have the flier printed getting people all excited and on the ground you know certain things are not yet in place is sometimes straining but l have a great team who come together and make it work. Special mention to my sister Millicent Nyikadzino, my friend Tafadzwa Mutanana,Kesia Chipunza,Alice Nherera,Sharon Kashiri ,Caroline Dyora l can't mention them all but the team is amazing.

YOUR STYLE IS WELL PUT TOGETHER , WHAT IS YOUR SECRET?
Hahaha, l believe it comes naturally and with how l got trained l would say.l believe in being presentable all the times.When you approach people it is the way you are dressed at times that determines how  they address you .

WHAT IS THAT ONE THING YOU WISH WE SHOULD DESIST FROM AS WOMEN?
Women should believe in themselves, women should begin to see themselves
making it happen .

WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO WORK WITH INTERNATIONALLY AND LOCALLY?
I have my local role models ,l have my international role models and l learn from them everyday. Empowering women should be a movement that everyone should prioritise therefore anyone who upholds and advances the women agenda we would be delighted to work with them .
 Lastly  i would like to acknowledge my parents' support everyday and my boyfriend for believing in me.
