STAR OF THE MONTH: WENYASHA CHINGONO

Hey embracers i hope you all good, this week i present to you the star of the month Wenyasha Chingono. Wenyasha is an award winning journalist and he is also a recording artist. He has worked with big names in the music industry such as Minister Takesure Zamar , the Outfit band, Vocal Ex , Cyd bass, and Bekithemba Ndlovu. He released his album earlier this year and it consists of seven tracks. His hard work earned him a journalist of the year award. His dedication and patience inspires me and i hope you will be inspired as well.
Who is Nyasha Chingono?
Nyasha Chingono is a 27 year old young man who is passionate about God
, music and journalism.
I began my musical journey back in 2007 when i released my first
single Raramo. It didn’t do well, so i had to pursue my education and
career. I almost felt like giving up because of negative comments from
people that i look up to, but thank God for keeping me strong in all
of this. I resumed recording music last year, but i was always
writing music, praying and preparing myself. During that wilderness
period of about 8 years i met phenomenal people and musicians. I met
Bishop Colin Nyathi who introduced me to the big stage as we travelled
around the country and outside ministering. That created a big base
for me and i am forever grateful for that. I also met Minister
Takesure who embraced me in his group in 2011, we worked together and
he taught me a lot. Many would call me young Takie, but i didnt care
because i was and i am still learning. I passed through the mentorship
of my brother in law Dr Maramba who taught me how to intercede and
wait on God. Finally this year i released my debut 7 track album which
is doing well by the Grace of God.
You have worked with influential people in the music industry such Minister Takesure Zamar and the Outfit Band how has this worked in your favour?
Working with Minister Takesure on my first single entitled
Musadzokere Kumashure was amazing because i was still raw and rearing to go. He helped me to be stable as i was just so excited to release. He featured on my song and it made it special. He is my mentor and someone who really speaks into my life, I thank God for him. The Outfit Band is one crazy bunch , very talented and skillful. I met them at Worship Addicts and i asked them to work on my album, It was really special. They have great ideas and they have helped me shape my music.
How do you Balance journalism and music at the same time?
It is really tough because i have to concentrate on both. I make sure i give both their time and I’ve been doing pretty well.
You received an award for being the journalist of year, how does it feel to be recognised for your hard work?
It was really an honour to be recognised at a national level. I am still a young journo and this comes as a boost to my career. I have been getting good responses ever since the award. I dedicate it to my late mom Nancy and late Father Mark.
Looking at your achievements do you think you have done enough or there are more to be accomplished?
I haven’t even started in both worlds of music and journalism. I believe God called us for amazing experiences and i am pretty sure i will enter that season soon. I am trusting God that i will continue to touch lives. There have been testimonies of healings and i want to see God do more through me by his grace.
Which artist would you love to collaborate with both locally and internationally?
Locally i would love to work with Bonnie Duschle and Celebration
music. They have the grace i would like to be imparted onto my music. In South, i really would like to work with Hlengiwe Mhlaba and Benjamin Dube and Dr Tumi of cause. Internationally it has to be Sinach, Franky Edwards, Donnie Mclurckin to mention a few.
What advice would you give to young men and women who want to pursue music and journalism?
I would say, please take your ministry seriously and God will take
you far. Please make use of people around you and get as much
knowledge and wisdom as possible. In Journalism, just be passionate
and teachable, you will scale greater heights.
Where can people get your music?
